Approaches to the Lexicon

— filed under:

The lexicon plays a central role in many areas of basic and applied sciences, from psychology and cognitive science to applied linguistics. Understanding the structure, composition and use of the lexicon holds important keys to understanding many research fields and a wide range of human activities.

Approaches to the Lexicon is an international symposium on the lexicon. Upwards of fifty leading researchers in four different areas have been invited to address, discuss and develop some of the most topical research questions in order to advance the state of the art within the field of lexicon research. The symposium is organized into four tracks bound together by cross-disciplinary papers (more information under 'Track policies'):

    * lexical semantics
    * word-formation
    * terminology and ontologies
    * second-language lexical acquisition.

The last day of the symposium is devoted to a workshop in which panels address topics in the interfaces between the four areas.

All papers given are by invited speakers.

We very much encourage all interested researchers and PhD students to participate actively as audience in the symposium. Since only a limited number of places are available, registration to attend will be on a first-come-first-served basis. Further information under 'Registration'
