ICLHE participates in Architecture project
ARCI21, Architectural education in Real-time Content integrated language learning in Immersive Virtual Environments for 21st century lifelong learning, a project submitted by Ecole nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-Malaquais, has been accepted by the European Commission. ICLHE is participating as an advisor.
ARCI21, Architectural education in Real-time Content integrated language learning in Immersive Virtual Environments for 21st century lifelong learning, a project submitted by Ecole nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-Malaquais, has been accepted by the European Commission. ICLHE is participating as an advisor.
"The project is coordinated by Moira Hunter at Ecole nationale supérieure d’architecture Paris-Malaquais, France, and involves partners from Aalborg, Jyvaskyla, Aveiro, and Ljubljana, among others.
The general aim is to contribute, explore, analyse, develop and evaluate within context the effectiveness of content integrated language learning using virtual environments in architectural education for higher education, continued education and work-based learners in a trans-national co-operative active research approach.
This project aims to develop and implement an innovative tri-focussed learning approach within the curricula: architectural education, integrated language learning, immersive learning in a 3D real-time virtual environment, thus opening alternative methods of learning curriculum content for architectural educators and students of architecture, and as a consequence, new opportunities for work and employment for architects and architectural educators, facilitating the trans-national mobility of the workforce and fostering economic development,
The potential and opportunities afforded by active learning approaches using Massive Multi-Users Virtual Environments (MUVEs) such as Second Life to engage and collaborate in user-based content offer learners opportunities to conceive, create, realize, evaluate and critique projects in a peer-peer/ learner-expert/expert-learner/learner-educator/learner-client/learner-neutral observer 3D voice enabled virtual learning environment."
