This webinar will discuss a study that aims to analyse the extent of EMI implementation in different fields of knowledge in Brazil, focusing on professors' self-assessed English proficiency and how these factors correlate with EMI use. Specifically, the study addresses three key questions:

1) To what extent is EMI used in Brazilian higher education?

2) What are the professors' self-rated levels of English proficiency?

3) How do these proficiency levels relate to EMI practices?


The results indicate that professors tend to rate their proficiency as intermediate to advanced. However, EMI practices remain relatively limited in Brazil, with the highest adherence found in Linguistics, Literature, and Arts (25.3%), while Human Sciences report the lowest (6%). Higher levels of English proficiency are significantly associated with an increased use of EMI.
