The European Association for the Teaching of Academic Writing (EATAW) invites you to participate in its 2025 Conference, themed Multilingual Academic Literacies: Challenges and Opportunities in the Age of AI, to be held on July 2-4, 2025 in Braga, Portugal.
Key Topics:
Participants are invited to submit proposals addressing one or more of the following themes:
Understanding and fostering multilingual academic literacies
Responding to social, political, economic, and technological phenomena impacting academic literacy development
The changing role of multilingualism in Europe and its implications for university writing
The impact of large language models and GenAI tools on academic literacy and multilingualism
Leveraging GenAI tools in teaching and learning academic writing
Training writing specialists to address the complexities of multilingual academic literacy
Other topics of relevance to the EATAW community
Submission Guidelines:
Proposals are welcome in the following formats:
Paper Presentation (20 minutes + 10 minutes discussion): Research-focused sessions presenting theoretical frameworks, methodologies, and results.
Practice-Oriented Presentation (10 minutes + 5 minutes discussion): Focused on innovative practices to promote academic literacy.
Symposium (90 minutes): A thematic session featuring 3-4 presentations and a moderated discussion.
Workshop (90 minutes): Interactive sessions engaging participants in activities and discussions.
Roundtable (60 minutes): Stimulating discussion and networking around relevant issues or projects.
Poster: Presented in dedicated sessions for in-depth discussions with participants.
Conference Languages:
Proposals and presentations are welcome in English, Portuguese, or Spanish.
Abstract Requirements:
Abstracts (250-350 words) must include up to five references in APA 7 style (in a separate field). Submissions will be evaluated based on criteria aligned with the chosen session format.
