Symposium 2024: website and call for posters!

Updated: Apr 25

The next ICLHE Symposium will be held in the city of Wiesbaden, Germany.

  • When? 10 & 11 October 2024

  • What? Bridging the gap: The ideal and the reality of teaching content through L2 in higher education

More information can be found on the website here, including the schedule and a call for posters for 2 different sessions:

1) The Early Career Researcher Session on Thursday 10 October

2) The Bring & Share Session on Support for Staff on Friday 11 October.

Research in the field of teaching academic content in a second language investigates the teaching and learning processes involved, aiming to support practitioners by deepening our knowledge of these processes. The realities in the ICLHE classroom (Integrating Content and Language in Higher Education) vary depending on context, as does the level and type of support available. So how can we best support practitioners and help to bridge the gap between the ideal ICLHE classroom and the reality?

This two-day symposium will examine current research in ICLHE and address the challenges and opportunities faced by educators and learners in higher education contexts.

Participants can expect engaging discussions, insightful presentations, and networking opportunities with experts in the field. Join us as we explore innovative approaches, share best practice, and address the complexities of teaching and learning in multilingual environments.

The organising team is composed of Alisha Gaul, Louise Klein, Charla Schutte and Shirley Roth.
